Well, there are cheaper options. Hornby track underlay strip is an enigma. My present display is over 20 years old and still looking good. It looks great and deadens noise, but they never really addressed the underlying sorry issues when you came to junctions.

If you are seeing this for the first time. This underlay looks great in my display cabinet with straight lengths of Hornby track. I've had some from another manufacturer which got a bit jaded after 10 years. They didn't make inserts with the appropriate impressions and instead marketed plain foam one-size-fits-all sheets which don't quite match.

But then, if it deadens the noise and allows you to run trains without Uncle Al going nuts because of noise, who cares?, If are looking for a pack this out-of-production underlay at decent price, finish project, then today is your lucky day.
